An Autumnal Apple Pie Porridge

Updated: Jan 19, 2023

As you probably know, I love porridge. I eat it all through the year, no matter what the season. I just love how adaptable oats are, you can literally add any topping and it will always taste good.

This autumn I decided to have a go at creating a season-specific breakfast. Using traditional autumnal spices and crunchy British apples, i made a homely and delicious apple pie porridge pot. And it tasted amazing! Recipe below...

Ingredients:

Porridge

British apples (diced)

Cinnamon

Nutmeg

Ginger

Sugar (if desired)

Milk

Oats

Toppings:

Butter

British apples (sliced)

Cinnamon

Nutmeg

Ginger

Brown sugar (I used dark)

Sour cream or yoghurt

Almond butter

Blackberries

Granola

Method:

1) In a pan, heat the diced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger (and sugar if you want!) until nice and soft.

2) Add the oats and milk to the pan and heat until your porridge is at the right consistency.

3) Meanwhile, rub your apple slices in brown sugar and all the spices. Lightly fry in butter until golden brown.

4) Plate your porridge in a bowl and add the toppings

Enjoy!
